During the spring quarter, I participated in the course NonProfit Leadership and Administration. This class was atypical compared to the rest of the course offerings from IslandWood. Rather than being focused on education, this course provided a unique glimpse into the inner workings of a startup non-profit. In fact, our class operated as a non-profit for our culminating class project was to put on the 5th Annual Multicultural Environmental Education Conference. We accomplished this monumental task in 8 weeks! Through intense collaboration, problem solving and group decision making, we secured a total of 12 speakers, raised over $1,500 and welcomed 90 participants to the conference.
I operated on two teams: Foundation Documents and Marketing. I contributed towards the creation of the Logic Model for our conference, honing in on the specifics of our mission and how we would accomplish that mission. For marketing, our team promoted the conference through twitter and facebook. Individually, I redesigned the logo for this year and designed the conference program which was emailed out to all conference participants. Click here to view the conference program
